The koala was nursed back to health by Gunnedah wildlife carer Martine Moran after being found on the side of the road in December by a hay carter from Quirindi, Kevin Charters.
The man took the injured male koala to the vet in Quirindi who checked it over before ringing Mrs Moran to take it into care.

"It was a possible vehicle hit as he had small amount of blood visual on his left ear and his left eye was shut," Mrs Moran said.
The carer sent the koala over to Taronga Western Plains Zoo's wildlife hospital where he was diagnosed with ocular chlamydia.
Mrs Moran brought him home and gave him daily injections to treat the disease.
"During this time, he ate heartily and achieved the cute and chubby look that suits koalas so well," she said.
"After a successful treatment, he was released on Friday to a group of trees safely away from the road but still close to where he was found in such a poor state a few months ago.
"If the hay carter had not taken the time to stop and help, Tuffie would not now be happy amongst his gum trees.
"It's a very happy outcome."
