Fourteen Gunnedah businesses have been lucky enough to receive funding to help expand their workings even further.
Gunnedah's councillors voted at Wednesday's meeting to distribute $25,750 to local businesses through the third round of Gunnedah Shire Council's Business Partner Program (BPP).
Renee Neale from Reverence Sourdough was chuffed that her application was successful, receiving $2000 in funding to update her website and for training for herself to hire another employee.
"Part of the funding from the [BPP] will go towards my website so I can create a new ordering system online and so I can update it with more detail in regards to my loaves and more on Gunnedah events I do," Mrs Neale said.
Mrs Neale said she had been thinking of taking on another two cafes to supply loaves to, but because she had been busier than ever, she needed an extra set of hands.
"I've got my food safety certificate but in order to hire someone else I need a food safety supervisor certificate so I'm going for that," she said.
View Street Takeaway received $5000 in funding, and will be putting it towards starting up their new 'crib meals' project, training staff for the new venture and potentially extending trading hours.
Owner Sarah McCann was grateful for the council's support in helping her expand the business.
"Our new project is crib meals, which are ready-made meals for miners and everyone really," Ms McCann said.
"A lot of it will be for training of staff, like the knowledge of what [crib meals] involves, a fair bit of advertising for it and we're going to try to extend our trading hours.
"That's going to be quite a costly exercise."
Ms McCann is hoping to have earlier mornings so miners and other early starters can grab brekky to-go.
Councillors also voted to have Wendy Marsh join the program's advisory group. She will now help in looking through applications and deciding on the successful applications.
