In round one, the Tigers lost 34-4 to the Northern Rivers Titans.
Smith, 20, started at prop and played substantial minutes in both games.
He believes that his overall performance was an improvement on his form for the side last season, when he debuted, and was in line with his continual progression as a footballer.
In round one, he was named Greater Northern's best player.
He said he had "heaps more" of a role in the side this year.
"I felt like I did the job easy enough ... I was real happy with myself, actually, real happy," he said.
Smith attributed the Tigers' disappointing showing to the team not having enough training sessions.
In Aberdeen, Greater Northern trailed 14-0 at half-time and 14-6 early in the second half.
