Crawfords Freightlines Pty Ltd treats softwood logs by spraying them with pesticides for insect control prior to shipping overseas.
The EPA launched an investigation after a complaint was made in November 2019.

EPA Regional Director North Karen Marler said the EPA alleges that Crawfords breached two conditions of their Environment Protection Licence, which regulates the times when fumigation can be carried out on the premises.
"Conducting fumigation activities outside licenced hours has the potential to cause harm to the community and environment," Ms Marler said.
"Near sunrise and sunset there is an increased likelihood of calmer weather conditions, which can affect the dispersal of pesticide fumes in the air, potentially leading to higher concentrations of pesticide fumes close to ground level.
"The conditions on the licence are designed to reduce the potential for harm due to limited dispersion."
