Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) mayor Andrew Hope dispelled the false information, saying it was the council's fault for releasing a "poorly worded" document.
Cr Hope said the council was putting together a "long-term strategic plan" for a sport and recreation study to look at assets, their age, and what needed renewal, and then put on display for community consultation.
"It was poorly worded and the community thought we were closing the pool. It was a document to start a conversation with the community on what they'd all like to see," Cr Hope said.
"The council has no plans of closing it because there's no need to close it."

The study found that the pool was now 100 years old, and was built to last for 50 years, so the mayor said it was "past its use by date".
The pool is "one small but important" part of the council's strategy for the sport and recreation overhaul, and he encouraged locals to submit their thoughts on upgrading the pool and other areas of the shire.
"We'll look at submissions and see if there's anymore modifications that need to be done and hopefully ratify a draft that as many people as possible can be happy with," Cr Hope said.
"If you're not happy with something, propose an alternative so we've got something to consider.
"Once that's all done we'll start lobbying the politicians for money."
