The NVI took a tour of the site on Tuesday, and saw one of the 50-tonne support beams being installed into the new bridge.
This step of the project is expected to be finished by the end of February, with the entire project set for completion in March 2021.

Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said now that the girders were being put in place, "locals will really be able to see the bridge take shape".
"Up to six girders a day will be lifted over a three-week period and a 500-tonne crane has been brought in for the process," Mr Anderson said.
"When this bridge is finished Gunnedah will have a whole new outlook to its traffic flow and safety for motorists and truck drivers."
The Oxley Highway and New/View streets roundabout is also underway, and speed limits remain at 40km/h near this construction zone.
New Street is still set to reopen this March, and View Street will then close for up to four months.
"This will allow work on the existing roundabout to be carried out at the same time as the bridge work, reducing the overall impacts on the community," an RMS spokesperson said.
The railway is shutdown until Friday, February 14, weather permitting, for the girders to be installed above the track.
The $62 million Gunnedah bridge project is funded under the NSW Government's Bridges for the Bush program and Daracon Group has been contracted by Roads and Maritime Services to deliver the project.
