Stefanie Woods achieved an ATAR of 89 and was named dux of St Mary's College.
At Gunnedah High School, the top performers were Cameron Gale and Nurshalynn Binte Mohd Noh Alam Shah.
"We congratulate all our HSC students on their strong performances; there were some outstanding individual results as well as impressive class results," St Mary's principal Max Quirk said.
"There are many happy school-leavers going off to university, apprenticeships, traineeships and the workforce in 2020. We congratulate our teachers for their outstanding efforts in helping to prepare this cohort of school leavers."

Gunnedah High School relieving principal Ken White said they were "celebrating the success" of its students and said other students who had achieved "notable results" were Ashleigh Mills, Lucy Moore, Noh Shafeeq Bin Mohd Noh Alam Shah and Amber Sands.
"Many students have already gained university placement via early entry schemes, and quite a few have already entered the job market," Mr White said.
"Our school careers adviser and senior study coordinator are assisting our former HSC and current new HSC (2020) with vocational planning."
