A SQUAD of 27 Gunnedah swimmers went west to Wee Waa and cleaned up in the pool, bringing home 35 gold, 29 silver and 22 bronze medals, while smashing three pool records along the way.

Thirteen-year-old Amelia Lush cracked pool records in freestyle and butterfly, and won the fast-and-furious Skins event, bagging a total of four gold, four silver and two bronze medals at the popular meet.
The 11-12 years 100m backstroke record fell to 12-year-old Savannah Lyons who picked up a total of four gold and four silver medals. Darcy Hannaford, 12, continued his good form from last season, with clean a sweep of the pool in nine events and a cash prize in the Skins.
Ten-year-old Dana Campbell had a field day at Wee Waa winning seven events, while her twin sister Eliza finished third in the 100m individual medley, with seven-year-old Alexis Campbell winning the freestyle and backstroke and grabbing silvers in fly and breaststroke.
Danika Jones also competed in this competitive age group, forging to the wall for first place in the 100m freestyle and fly, with second in the 33m fly and third in freestyle and backstroke. Tahlia Smith, 11, went home with two bronze medals, while 10-year-old Georgia Lyons, won a silver and bronze and was just edged out of a place in the medley.
Angus Hobson faced tough opposition in the 10 years boys events but proved too good in the 100m backstroke. He finished the day with silvers in the medley and 33m and 100m breaststroke, with a bronze in the 33m freestyle.

Charlie Shorter had a great introduction to competitive swimming, winning silver medals in the eight years 33m backstroke, fly and breaststroke with a close fourth in freestyle.
The club's tadpoles turned in promising performances. Seven-year-old Josh Spinks, claimed victory in the 33m breaststroke and finished second in freestyle and fly with third place in backstroke, while club mate Coen Gough, also 7, came third in fly and breaststroke.
Tiny tot Sienna Swain was competitive in the seven years division, winning the fly and breaststroke, with second place in freestyle and third in backstroke, while Olivia Lyons swam into third place in fly and breaststroke.
Felicity Gough scored a gold, three silver and a bronze in the nine years division, while Jacob Smith won the nine years breaststroke, silvers in freestyle and fly and a bronze in backstroke. Baxter Knapman, 9, picked up a silver in backstroke and a bronze in freestyle.
Seasoned competitor Chloe Sumpter made a return to the pool, winning the 15 years 33m freestyle, and swimming into third place in the Skins. She also came second in breaststroke, with 13-year-old Ben Neale bagging silvers in fly and breaststroke and a bronze in freestyle.
The Gunnedah squad also tasted success in the relays with second place in the 10 and under and open relays and third place in the 12 and under event.
Last Saturday, Swimming Gunnedah coach John Hickey had a team of 27 ready for the Kootingal carnival, which had received record entries, but was unfortunately called off on the day due to thick smoke from the bush fires.
