Members enjoyed an interesting presentation about Oak Tree village, which Ms Blinman said offers 'a relaxed and independent lifestyle, in a low maintenance property, where residents can enjoy regular social activities, and the security of living in a gated community'.
"We take care of the chores while the residents concentrate on getting more enjoyment out of life," she said.
Program officers Sue Braby and Linda Lee made a presentation to Ms Blinman and thanked her for her informative talk.
With the festive season just around the corner, plans are under way for members to "cruise into Christmas" with everyone encouraged to dress in their best "cruising or nautical outfits". The dinner will be held in the bowling club barbecue area on Wednesday, December 3, at 6:30 for 7pm.
Invitations have been received for members to celebrate Christmas with VIEW Clubs in Coonabarabran, Narrabri and Tamworth.
With more than than 15,000 members across Australia, VIEW's reach and networks in local communities help to raise awareness and strengthen the impact of the work of The Smith Family charity.
VIEW was founded in 1960, by George Forbes, then General Secretary of The Smith Family, who saw the potential for an organisation which allowed women from all walks of life to develop interests outside the home, providing friendship, education and mental stimulation. At the same time he hoped to offer these women the means to assist others less fortunate through The Smith Family.
VIEW came into existence at a time when women were discouraged from having a voice in the community - 60 years later more than 300 clubs have been formed across the country.
Two exciting events have been planned in Sydney for the diamond anniversary and members are invited to attend a high tea during the day on Thursday, July 23, at Sydney Masonic Centre in the CBD. New members are always welcome at VIEW. For catering purposes, apologies and names of guests for the December meeting should be phoned to Kate on 6742 3926 by the Monday.
