The 2019 Driving Cities Index data-driven study carried out by Mister Auto analysed indicators such as infrastructure and congestion of the roads, driving costs and incidents of road rage to determine a city's driving conditions.

All four Australian cities included - Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney - have the same average car age of 10 years, and same cost of petrol level.

Motorists in Melbourne pay the third-most tolls in the world, while the city is ranked as having the 17th best public transport.

Brisbane tops the world's list when it comes to air quality score, Perth has one of the best cars per capita rates, and Sydney is the most expensive place in the globe to park your car for two hours.

When it comes to the overall cost of parking as a percentage of the 2017 national average wage, Sydney is second in the world, Brisbane is fourth, and Melbourne is sixth.

Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia topped that list, with New York in third and Karachi in Pakistan fifth.

All four Australian cities scored 86 for road quality, putting them in the bottom third around the world.

The top four cities for road quality were all in Switzerland, with Singapore fifth.
