There was a marked reduction in the numbers of plainer conditioned cattle, both young cattle and cows, however, there were some numbers available.
The offering of early weaned calves reduced.
All the regular buyers competed in a mostly dearer market
Vealer to the trade saw substantially dearer trends, both in the steer and heifer offering with an odd sale to 300c/kg.
Restockers were competitive on the plainer types offered.
Light yearling steers to feed saw trends rise by 19c/kg, while the medium weight drafts saw a firm trends. Heavy trade steers were significantly dearer.
Similarly the light heifer portion sold to dearer trends of 10c/kg and the medium weights were also firm.
Heavy trade heifers lost last weeks' rise to see a reduction of 11c/kg. Grown heifers saw their trends improve 25c/kg, with no grown steers to compare.
Medium weight D2 cows sold to dearer trends of 24c, the high yielding D3 and D4 cows, also dearer by 3c to 6c/kg.
There were drafts of younger, heavy cows having been weaned of calves, sent back to an exporter's paddock to freshen and provide product for the short term future.
