Dragons and witches were the theme for the morning's story and craft time for children on their term break.
Library assistant Fiona Sills read a handful of books featuring the mythical characters, then got the youngsters into colouring and craft such as mask-making.
Librarian Christiane Birkett said the aim of the library's programs for younger children was to "give them a taste of the pleasure of books and reading".
"We aim to turn storytime into something practical they have done themselves," she said.

"It taps into their creativity, fine motor skills and decision-making."
Ms Birkett said such fun "extends the enjoyment of books into something else ... It shows how books can be associated with another pleasurable activity".
She said the library also aimed to provide an alternative to the many physical activities on offer during the holidays.
"There are a lot of sporting activities available, but some children prefer to be inside, reading."
