For three days, Fire and Rescue NSW's Monica Bentham, David Moses, Sam Turner and Jeremy Gallagher joined Strike Team Lima in fighting the blaze, relocating native animals and extinguishing hot spots.

The crew of 17 firefighters from Gunnedah, Narrabri, Tamworth and West Tamworth is being relieved this afternoon and will be replaced by crews from Moree, Coonabarabran, Narrabri and Tamworth.
Peel duty commander Peter Nugent said Strike Team Lima's main role was property protection but "yesterday we were right in the thick of it in wild fire" and worked through from 8am-11pm.
"The fire turned 180 degrees on us ... That was a big day," he said.

They also assisted the Rural Fire Service with a back burn last night.
Mr Nugent said Fire and Rescue NSW had received praise from the water-bombing aircraft pilots for "doing a really good job".
