Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson will meet with Mackellar Care Services chief executive Wayne Snelson and Hunter New England Health chief executive Susan Heyman on Thursday.
Mr Anderson said talks would focus on "what can be done", as the centre prepares to close from Friday because it can't find a permanent full-time GP.

"My focus is providing the best health services and doctors for Gunnedah, and I will do everything I can to help attract more doctors," Mr Anderson said.
The Mackellar board has been working with the Rural Doctors Network (RDN) for months to find a permanent doctor, but the search has proved futile and no re-opening date has been set yet.
The RDN said it was still invested in helping Mackellar find a solution, chief executive officer Richard Colbran said.
"NSW Rural Doctors Network remains committed to working with the board of Mackellar Care Services, the operator of Mackellar Rural Health Centre in Gunnedah, on options for the centre to continue operating," Mr Colbran said.
"The Mackellar board has engaged positively with RDN over the past few months, and discussions remain focused on continued collaboration and co-operation to develop a long-term solution for the people of Gunnedah to access medical and allied health services."
Mackellar Care Services announced on Friday it had made the decision to temporarily close the centre as it was unable to attract a permanent GP.
The clinic's current GP, Dr Alice Wu, is unable to remain after Friday because she has "other commitments".
