The ride starts in Manilla on Saturday with a dinner at the RSL. They will do loop drives around Manilla until Wednesday then group will travel 42km to Attunga and set up camp at the showgrounds.

Each day, they do a loop drive of 28-40km and the ride will finish up on Friday. The farewell dinner will be at Attunga on September 27.

The annual ride in aid of children's charity, The Royal Far West, has been taking place for 10 years and money is raised from entry fees, raffles, games and donations.

Every year, members of the club traverse across the north west countryside in horse-drawn carriages, with stops to tell stories around the campfire while enjoying the company of others.

Some will even be travelling all the way from Queensland and the Victorian border to get involved with the festivities.

The riders start out from Manilla and go through towns including Gunnedah, Quirindi and Attunga. Each day, they do a loop drive of 28-40km. The farewell dinner will be at Attunga on September 27.

Club president Peter Honeyman said the club started the drive in 2010 and we moved camp each day driving to various towns, villages or properties around the Liverpool plains.

"Over the years we have driven in Tamworth, Gunnedah and Liverpool Plains shires," Mr Honeyman said.

"We used to carry water and horse feed on the Grace's truck, used the Quirindi Rugby Club bus to move drivers back and forth driven by Sid Dart. These were all donated, as well as the horse feed."

Mr Honeyman said the councils also waived camp fees to help.

"As things got harder to organise, we decided in 2015 to have two camp sites with a move in between [and] loop drives each other day," he said.

"We have always tried to avoid major roads keeping to dirt. We raised money from entry fees, raffles, games and donations."

The club is affiliated with the Australian Carriage Driving Society and over the years, drive organisers have included Bill Greer (four years), Bruce Donnelly (two years) and Mr Honeyman (four years). Trish Greer, Vicki Donnelly,Mr Honeyman and Judy Tonkiss have contributed as secretaries.

More than $100,000 has been raised over the last nine years.

"Sadly, this will be our last charity drive due to various reasons, which have affected us," Mr Honeyman said.

"Our club will continue to hold drives around the Liverpool Plains each month and a one-week annual drive."
