Last week the village progress association told the NVI that residents had seen and heard of numerous drivers going off-road and cutting the corners when entering and leaving the town from the Kamilaroi Highway.
There have been reports of near collisions with residents and other vehicles and association members said they had spoken with police and written to the council about the matter.

Gunnedah Police's Sergeant Mark Benson said crossing a continuous edge line while driving was an offence.
"It is illegal," he said.
"You are required by the law to use intersections.
"If they do it in front of us, they'll be getting booked."
Sergeant Benson urged road users who witness drivers cutting the corners to take note of registration details and report the incidents.
The council's works manager Richard Baxter said they had placed additional guide posts and signs in the "problem areas".
Council received contact from the Curlewis Progress Association who were concerned about road safety issues including cutting corners and people driving unsafely.
"[We] are working with the Curlewis Progress Association to remind road users to have safety in mind," Mr Baxter said.
"There are some simple ways to help stay safe: stay on the bitumen surface, follow the road rules, don't cut the corner, use common sense and be respectful and responsible road users.
"If you witness any unsafe behaviour, please get in contact with police."
