STUDENTS from nine schools in the region will sing, dance, play and sign for a national audience after being selected for this year's Schools Spectacular.

They will join peers from 389 public schools across NSW for the "extraordinary event [that] celebrates youth, education, culture, diversity and young Australian talent".
It will be held at QUDOS Bank Arena in Sydney's Olympic Park in November.

Armidale Secondary College will have students in the Aboriginal dance, combined choir and combined dance groups.
The dance group will also have Glen Innes High and Inverell High students; the latter will also be in the D'Arts ensemble, along with Wee Waa High.
Tamworth High, Tamworth South Public and Oxley High students will be in the combined choir.
Quirindi High students will be in the sign-language choir.
Two students from the region have already been named as featured performers: Hannah Burton from Oxley High for vocals, and Guyra Central's Savannah Roberts for dance.
Musicians, including members of the 100-piece symphony orchestra, stage band and Millennium Marching Band, will be announced later.
Schools Spectacular creative director Sonja Sjolander said this year's theme, STARS, was a tribute to everybody involved in the event.
"In the Schools Spectacular, everyone is a star," Ms Sjolander said.
