Everyone knows that the internet is a great place to find information, stay connected with friends and family, and learn new skills, but the digital world is also one of hidden risks that users, whatever their age, should be aware of.
As well as the free booklet, The Little Black Book of Scams, which not only describes the most common scams, how to avoid them and, even more importantly, how to report them.
The library has many books and resources to help adults and children stay safe online.
There's a Cyber Safety Website list, which outlines reliable websites providing information to help you protect yourself on line, and a Website Evaluation Form which gives a guide as to what questions to ask when evaluating the accuracy of the information you find on a web site.
The Library also has many books about cyber safety, for all ages, including The Internet is like a Puddle - a picture books for youngsters; Raising Digital Families; Social Impacts of Digital Media; Internet for Seniors; iPad apps for Kids; Buying a Computer for Seniors; and Dealing with Bullying which includes information about online bullying.
These books, and other titles, are all available for lending, and will be on special display during eSmart Libraries Week.
If you have any questions, or need any help using the Public Access Computers, just ask the friendly Library staff who will be more than happy to assist you.
See you at the library!
