After a weekend of fine weather, it looked like spring had set in but winter will have one last hurrah at the end of the week.
There's a chance for a frost in Gunnedah on Thursday morning with with the temperature to go close to zero on Friday morning.
It will be much colder in towns east of Tamworth, though, with lows well below zero expected.
Along with those cold temperatures, there will be a chance of snow in some areas, according to the Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye website.
The website is predicting a chance of snow in Hanging Rock, Niangala, Walcha and Black Mountain early Friday morning.
There won't be any snow hitting Gunnedah on Friday but there is a chance for rain.
While not substantial, the Bureau of Meteorology says there is a 60 per cent chance of 2-4mm.
