Mobile phone users across the North west Slopes might notice an improvement in reception, after the telco switched on a new mobile tower in Gunnedah.

The tower is designed to maximise mobile reception and capacity within central Gunnedah "as well as providing coverage improvements along Kamiliroi Highway, and around the Showgrounds".
Optus' Territory General Manager for the North West and Lower mid-North Coast NSW Chris Simon said, "It's great to be able to bring improved mobile coverage to the residents of Gunnedah".
"This new tower will deliver the improvements that residents and businesses in the area have been waiting for," he said.

"The tower went live in time to support the thousands of visitors to AgQuip last week, improving mobile coverage and helping facilitate local business opportunities which are critical for the local farming and agricultural industry.
"The site will support existing mobile capacity from Porcupine Hill providing residents and businesses with reliable and dedicated mobile reception to make and receive calls, texts and access mobile data.
"We made a commitment to deliver improved services across regional New South Wales and this new site will provide a significant boost for coverage in Gunnedah, including improved indoor coverage and performance whilst also providing greater stability and mobility on our network," Mr Simon said.
