Dunn and Hillam Architects have been appointed to look at creating a more cohesive precinct as part of the Cultural Precinct Master Plan and Concept Plan.
The architects will develop a concept plan and cultural heritage plan using community consultation.
Other community members in the group include Joe Kelly, Martine Moran, Shirley Urquhart, Ashley Byron, Rebecca Ryan and Margaret Amos. Councillors Murray O'Keefe, Colleen Fuller, Owen Hasler and Rob Hooke represent the council.
The council's purchase of 158 Conadilly Street - an empty block adjacent to the Smithurst Theatre on Conadilly Street - in December 2018 will provide more options for the redevelopment of the precinct.
At the time, numerous councillors said it was "very good news" as the block had been an "eyesore for many years".
Gunnedah's cultural precinct includes Gunnedah Town Hall, the Smithurst Theatre, the Civic Theatre, the Creative Arts Centre, and the Visitors Information Centre.
