Gunnedah Barber Street Practice's Dr Robert Parsons said Laverty Pathology was cutting back services throughout the state citing that "the percentage of after-hours call-outs is unsustainable".
Dr Parsons said he, and a number of other doctors, did not agree with the change.
"Some doctors are extremely passionate about these reduction of hours ... [they're] not fine with it," Dr Parsons said.

Dr Parsons told the NVI "the reduction in after-hours services poses major concerns for doctors working at Gunnedah Hospital both in the accident emergency and obstetric departments".
However, the hospital's health service manager Gillian Eccleston said in a statement that Gunnedah Hospital's services hadn't changed.
"Hunter New England Health has not reduced any services at Gunnedah Hospital, and we continue to provide appropriate and timely care to our patients," Ms Eccleston said.
"We are now working with Laverty and NSW Health Pathology to ensure we maintain appropriate pathology services at the hospital.
"Pathology services are continuing as normal between the hours of 8am-9pm Monday to Friday. They are also still available for emergencies."
Ms Eccleston said samples requiring processing outside of Laverty's operating hours were "being sent to NSW Health Pathology's Tamworth laboratory if required, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week".
"Point of care testing for patients, provided by NSW Health Pathology, remains available for many tests," she said.
Laverty Pathology was contacted several times for comment, but did not respond to the NVI.
The state government has committed $53 million to upgrade and rebuild the Gunnedah Hospital.
