Competitors from Gunnedah and Tamworth vied for the title of most promising instrumentalist, pianist and primimary and secondary vocalists.

Oscar King won the award for the Most Promising Instrumentalist, 18 years and under, followed by Mitchell Herden. Both are members of Gunnedah Shire Band.
Joshua Carter from Tamworth won the Heath Family Award for Most Promising Pianist, 18 years and under, with Gunnedah musician Loudrick Lui placing second.
The Pigott Family Awards for Most Promising Vocalist were hotly contested but at the end of the day were awarded to Susie Bell (primary) and Molly Owen (secondary).
Seven choirs from Gunnedah, Narrabri and Tamworth competed in the choral section in the afternoon.
Gunnedah Conservatorium 2 won the Open Vocal Ensemble and Gunnedah Conservatorium beat out three choirs to take home the victory in the Open Choral Championship. The major prize was $500.
Saturday was a massive day in the Gunnedah Eisteddfod schedule and wrapped up this year's music section, which was adjudicated by Paul Jarman.
