Two Gunnedah men are preparing to take on a motorcycle ride from Narrabri to Darwin as part of The Long Ride 2019.

Des O'Callaghan and Tim Brett will tackle the ride on Saturday, May 11 to raise awareness of prostate cancer and funding for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).
"I couldn't think of a better way to help raise awareness about prostate cancer and funds for PCFA," Mr O'Callaghan said.
"We ... all share a passion for riding and a passion for making a difference in our community."

Along with 300 other riders from all over the world, the men will travel through Roma, Balcardine, Winton, Mt Isa, Tennant Creek, Katherine, and Coolalinga before arriving in Darwin on May 18.
PCFA CEO Jeff Dunn AO and The Long Ride founders Chris and Gail Dunne OAM will join the group of motorcyclists.

Riders commit to raise at least $500 each, in order to help reduce the impact of prostate cancer on men and their families.
Participants in the ride also contribute financially to the local communities they pass through, as they spend money on accommodation, food and fuel.
