"By all counts, it seems like it will progress forward in a positive outcome for us," he said.
At last week's ordinary meeting, councillors deferred a decision into a further investigation of the 2018 request by the association and NSW Police Force until the new financial year.
Councillors want to know the council's financial position before delving into the matter following news that are no other known examples of councils subsiding police housing in NSW.
"As far as we're concerned, we're still very hopeful about a successful outcome with the council assisting with us with police housing," Mr Wood said.
"Myself personally, I've spoken to at least one councillor since that meeting and at this stage it's still encouraging."
The police association requested subsidised housing because of ongoing staffing issues.
