Despite losing both pool games to North Tamworth and Dungowan, Rampling said he was "really impresses" with what he saw from his charges.
"It was really good for those guys to have a hit," Rampling said.
"I think it was especially good considering for a few of those guys it was there first real run for the year and it was my first time seeing a few of them.
"There are a lot of positives we can take out of the nines for sure."

The Roos have been busy during the off-season, recruiting several players to help the club field a second grade side for the season.
"Depth is such an important thing for success in first grade," Rampling said.
"So the club has been hard at work ensuring we will have four sides on the park every weekend.
"I think they have done an excellent job in doing that and we are seeing pretty much all of those players at training regularly."
Rampling said the club was in an "exciting position" heading into the 2019 season.
"Mate, we are miles in front compared to where we were this time last year," he said.
"Our goal over the off season was depth and our aim was to have 50 senior players registers for the season.
"So far we have 40 and we are seeing most of them train regularly."
As well as adding depth to the club's playing stocks, Rampling said an effort to recruit imported players had also been made.
"We have been looking at trying to import some quality players into the side," he said.
"Hopefully we will have some more news on that in the near future.
"I'm really excited about what lies ahead for us as a club.
"I'm not going to make any bold predictions but I honestly think we will be an improved side this year and may surprise a few sides."
Boggabri will now turn its attention to a series of trial games coming up in the next six weeks.
"We start out with a first grade trial game against Warialda on March 23," Rampling said.
"Followed by a reserve grade trial against South West Robins on April 6.
"Our last one is a full club trial against Narrabri on April 13."
At this stage, Boggabri is slated to play Narrabri in Round one of the 2019 Group 4 season.
