Already assured of a spot in the final, the two points from the draw took Gunnedah to 20 points and put them out of reach of Narrabri, who were entering the round the only side capable of knocking them off top spot.
“I actually contacted them last night,” Gunnedah skipper Mitch Swain said on Sunday.
“They were in the process of contacting me.”
“They said it was too wet.”

Swain said it was disappointing that they didn’t get to play, and in hindsight the pitch probably would have dried out, but by the same token was happy that they let them know rather than drive all the way up there on Sunday only to not play.
The final will be played on February 24 with Gunnedah facing Narrabri.
Unbeaten so far this campaign, Gunnedah will be striving to win the silverware for the first time since the 1990’s.
