Summer Reading Club activities are still in full swing, with a Curious Creatures Scavenger hunt, where children have to find and answer questions about 30 curious creatures whose pictures are posted in the library – it’s interesting, fun, free, and air-conditioned!

And children who finish the hunt can select a prize to take home.
There’s also Storytelling and Handicrafts for young children up to seven years old on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, at 10.30am to 11am.
It’s for the young and the young at heart, it’s free and no bookings are required. Just come along and enjoy yourselves.
After the story reading there’s a handicraft session so the youngsters have something to take home to remind them of their visit.
Plenty of new books have been added to the collection...
Older children can come along in the afternoons at 3.30pm for an hour of fun and handicrafts.
The theme this week is Curious Creatures on the Land, which includes both real and imaginary animals. There’s a charge of $3 per child for this session, and a limit of 10 children per session, so please book on 6740 2190 to secure a place for your child.
All children coming to the library during January can ask for the Summer Reading Club activity bag, which is packed with games, puzzles and activities – the bag is free, and there are also directions on how to sign up on line and be in the running for prizes.
Plenty of new books have been added to the collection to keep the children occupied during the holidays.
Among the new titles are: The Fire Stallion by Stacy Gregg, a must for every girl who loves horses; and for Harry Potter fans, there’s the screenplay book of The Crimes of Grindelwald by J. K. Rowling.
Followers of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson will enjoy The Trials of Apollo: The Dark Prophecy, and there’s also a new David Walliams, The Ice Monster.
Saturday library users please note that the library will be open on Saturday, January 26, from 9.30am to 1pm.
Come in and enjoy the air-conditioned comfort, new books, magazines and newspapers, public access computers, and join in with the Knit and Natter, Colour and Chatter group from 9.30am until 12.30pm.
