Deputy mayor Rob Hooke
It has been an exceptionally tough year for many sections of our community and you are foremost in our minds. I am so fortunate to be part of such a generous, caring society which helps those in need.
Renee and I wish one and all a very happy Christmas. Continue to look out for each other, treasure your family, take care on the road and may 2019 bring health, happiness and good fortune.
Ann Luke
I would like to wish all members of our community a safe and restful holiday season. Look after your family and your garden and pets, and let your neighbours know if you are going to be away. Check out the council website (www.gunnedah.nsw.gov.au) for any changes to your garbage collection.

Following a year of drought, many of our Gunnedah shire residents have had a difficult year coping with the demands and challenges caused by the dry conditions. However, it is important that we all look forward to the Christmas and New Year period, when many of us will join with family and friends to reflect on the year gone by, and hope that 2019 brings us greater rain, prosperity and joy.
I hope that you all enjoy whatever holiday time you can afford under these conditions – whether at home, the beach or watching the cricket.

Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2019.

Robyn and I take this opportunity to wish all residents of Gunnedah Local Government Area a safe and Merry Christmas, and hope the New Year is a happy and successful one.

Like every year, the Christmas season is the perfect time to reflect on the events of the preceding 12 months and attempt to slow the pace of life down and experience the moment. For some, the year has been the most challenging on record; for others, the year has been more positive. Regardless of where you feel 2018 has sat for you, let us all be thankful for the wonderful community we live in. The spirit shown to pull together and work for the good of Gunnedah continues to amaze – let us be thankful for this and may 2019 be an even more uplifting year for us all.

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a blessed new year.
A special thank you to all our volunteers who have contributed so much to those in need this past twelve months and especially those caring for our "living treasures" – our older folk who have set the foundation for what Gunnedah is today.
Words cannot express the big debt of gratitude we owe also to all our emergency and medical personnel who serve us so well throughout the year and over the holiday time.
May God bless you all in the year ahead and in the midst of all the Christmas glitter, don't forget the real story of Christmas - the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ. My best wishes to you all.
