CHRISTMAS island style was the theme for the final gathering of Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members after another successful year of friendship and fun.
Gunnedah Services & Bowling Club auditorium took on a festive air as members and guests arrived in colourful outfits adorned with leis and flowers.
During the evening, club member Moana Shoobert demonstrated the hula “for more mature ladies” with members then up on the floor swaying and moving to the music, amid much laughter.
The arrival of Santa’s Elf and Mrs Claus to distribute Secret Santa gifts from Friends in VIEW added to the wonderful Christmas cheer. At the beginning of the year, each member is allocated a “friend” to care for without revealing their identity until the annual general meeting in February. The beautiful Christmas cake was made and decorated by Anne Finnigan for members to enjoy.
Special guests at the meeting were Gunnedah Day VIEW Club’s Shail Mitchell, zone councillor Sally Cronberger and National councillor Beryl Pike (Tamworth) who congratulated members on another successful year and their ongoing sponsorship of three disadvantaged students through the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program. VIEW clubs around Australia support around 1300 students in their education.
The annual general and monthly meetings along with the “VIEW Friends reveal” will be held at GSBC on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 6.30pm for 7pm. Apologies or names of guests should be phoned to Kate on 6742 3926 by the Monday night prior to the meeting.
