It’s definitely a bit like Christmas, with only a few days to go before the big fella in red drops by.

Christmas is all about family and friends, and I want to urge everyone to be careful as there is likely to be a risk around the corner.
If you’re hitting the road to visit loved ones, enjoying some fun in the sun on one of our beautiful beaches, or having a boat ride on a river or lake, we want everyone to arrive safely and to be safe.
Enjoy the festive season and take care.
- Kevin Anderson
All motorists have a responsibility to obey the road rules and the last thing anyone wants to see is another tragedy on our roadways that could have been avoided.
That means every driver needs to pay attention on the road, put your mobile phone out of reach and, if you’re having a drink, don’t get behind the wheel.
If you’re visiting the beach, make sure you only swim in a patrolled area between the red and yellow flags, don’t overestimate your ability or underestimate the conditions and, if heading out on a boat, log your details ahead of time with Marine Rescue.
I’d be pleased if people could think of others. Reach out to neighbours if you see they may be experiencing loneliness or on their own.
Enjoy the festive season and take care – and we look forward to more regular rainfalls and a better year for the region.
Happy Christmas and Happy New Year.
