The Northern Inland Academy of Sport ran their first Aussie Rules program in 2015 with 35 boys.
Since its inaugural year, the program has grown and the 2019 squad is made up of more than 50 boys and girls.
Players part of the program have gone on to further representative honours, including with the Northern Heat.
New England Nomads’ Morgan Dunn along with Hayden Baker, Ed George, Tom Maher, Lachie Martin, Will Mozzell, Jordan Sue-Fong, Jasper Thomas and James Vallender were selected in the Northern Heat squad which will train in Armidale this Saturday.
It will be the first time that the Heat has had the chance to get to the North West region.
In addition to sport specific skill work and game play scenarios the group will also work with former Sydney Swans strength and conditioning coach Matt Pine to develop personalised programs.
The Northern Heat program comprises the best under 17 players from the North Coast, North West, and Northern Rivers regions.
