
PARTS of the shire have enjoyed the best rain all year this week, with 71.2mm recorded at Gunnedah airport over Tuesday and Wednesday.
The soaking began with 11.6mm overnight Tuesday, followed up by 59.6mm after 9am Wednesday.
This day-and-a-half of rainfall was more than any entire monthly fall since November 2017.

During the same rain event, Boggabri recorded 51mm, Quirindi recorded 44mm, Mullaley 26.6mm, Tambar Springs 12mm, according to bureau records.
However, it was followed with a wind and dust storm the next day, which one livestock agent said would just dry the country out.
There looks to be no rain coming in the next week.
