President Bob Leister was high in his praise of the volunteers, thanking them for their consistent hard work in helping to preserve the history of the town and district at the Water Tower Museum.
The society has been overwhelmed with the success of Ron McLean’s latest book, The Final Curtain, which provides a snapshot of the many past local identities who lived in the area and were part of the fabric of the town.
The initial print run sold out in three weeks and the society is hopeful of another delivery before Christmas, with a consignment going to the Gunnedah Newsagency and Second Edition Book Store, as well as the museum.
Members are grateful for the support of owners John Sturgess and Meryl Hennessy who have sold books on behalf of the society.
A valued society member and former NVI editor, Ron McLean, had also produced an earlier book, In The Line of Fire, to commemorate the centenary of the Great War and those who served from the town and district. These books are still available at the reduced price of $25.
The society will go into recess until February, however, the Water Tower Museum will continue to open every Saturday from 10am to 2pm and Monday mornings when volunteers are working.
New members are always welcome. All inquiries should be directed to Bob Leister on 0427 422 118.
