The side took to Ken Chillingworth Oval for the first round of the Group 4 women’s competition on Saturday and opened their account with a 12 to 8 victory over South West Robbins (2), and a 20 to four loss against South West Robbins (1).
Bulldogs coach Bob Price praised his side’s “brilliant” performances on Saturday.
“Saturday was a really great first hit out for our girls,” Price said.
“Their defensive effort was unreal all day, to be honest I haven’t stopped talking about how proud I am of the team since Saturday.”

The fate of the women’s nines competition hung in the balance after a lack of player interest forced Group 4 to cancel the fixture.
However, a surge of player support from the participating clubs ensured the competition went ahead.
“We were obviously pretty disappointed when we heard it wasn't going ahead, but we continued to train and stick together in case it did,” Price said.
“I think by doing that we were able to set ourselves up for a good performance first up and we needed that given only four of the girls had ever played together before.
“But still, the girls were brilliant on Saturday and I am really proud.”
Price said his side would continue to work on polishing its offensive strategies ahead of round two on December 1.
“I think one thing we will be looking to improve on is looking up a bit more and watching our passes,” he said.
“In saying that, I thought our hit ups were really good on Saturday so anything that does need improving will just be minor.
“One thing I do want to see grow is the crowd size, we had a really strong turnout on Saturday and I would love to see the Gunnedah community get right behind us again on December 1.”
