Gunnedah Little Athletics is off to a running start but is keen for more members.
We currently have around 70 members for this year but would love any new members,” president Hayley Hausfeld said.
“We have a new and enthusiastic committee, which is looking forward to having a successful and fun year.
There have been a few changes this year.
“We have relocated this year to Donnelly Fields to take advantage of the new facilities that council has worked hard to provide, including the new lighting system,” Ms Hausfeld said.
“We have also changed nights to Thursday to work in with other sporting groups that use Donnelly Fields.”
Ms Hausfeld said Little A’s starts at at 5.30pm and finishes at about 7.30pm depending on events.
”All new athletes can try Little Athletics for two weeks before committing to join,” she said.
“Just come down and talk to the registrar.”
Little A’s will run every Thursday night until December 13 when it wrap up until Feburary 7 because of the Christmas holidays and summer temperatures.
Little Athletics is for children aged 5-16 years and is based on the sport of athletics (track and field). The events are specially modified to suit the ages and abilities of children.
The track and field-based competition is held throughout the summer sports season. Events include track, sprints (70m, 100m and 200m), distance (400m, 800m and 1500m), hurdles (60m, 80m, 90m, 100m, 110m and 200m), field, jumps (long jump, triple jump and high jump), and throws (shot put, discus and javelin).
