As runs were hard to come by in the Gunnedah District Cricket Association second grade competition, Court House and Mornington came away with wins.
Mornington’s Corey Matthews (3-14) and Angus Martin (3-18) led the way to bowl Whitehaven out for 89 as Monica Bentham (19) top-scored.
Whitehaven claimed a couple early wickets to have Mornington at 2-19 but Bruce Hockings led the way with a patient 33.
Michael Reid (2-12) picked up a pair of wickets but Mornington cruised past the total with four wickets in hand.
In the Albion-Court House match, Albion almost did the unthinkable. Albion managed 53 with nine batsmen at their disposal as captain Garry Briggs (21) was the side’s best with bat in hand.
Court House’s Jye Hicks (4-4) did the bulk of the damage.
In reply, no Court House batsmen was able to edge into double figures.
The White pairing of Ashley (3-13) and Trent (3-12) ripped through the top and middle order but Court House was able to get over the line. Adam King (4*) and Beau Herbert (6*) knocked over the winning runs with one wicket to spare.
