For a year, works by a growing number of artists have hung on the walls of the converted wool shed and a new exhibition on October 26 will see the anniversary celebrated.
The works of Tammey McAllan, Lorraine Maddigan, Tamar Greatrix, Rachael Passfield, Helen Stanley, Jen Hutchison, Jade Punch and Catherine Fogarty will feature in the exhibition, with doors to open at 6pm for 6.30pm. The dress theme is pink and one lucky person will take home a painting donated by Tammey.
Hassab’s Fashions and the Commercial Hotel Boggabri have jumped on board again to make it a great night out. The hotel will have happy hour drinks and Hassab’s Fashions will open late for a fashion parade showcasing the latest trends.
The Art Shed was established in the grounds of Boggabri Hardware and Rural Supplies in October 2017 with the aim of giving locals somewhere to display their creative works. Hardware owner Jo Bell, Tammey, and The Men’s Shed worked together to launch the idea, which was quickly embraced by the community.
Tammey said it was hard to believe a year had already passed because “it feels like not long ago”.
In that 12 months, The Art Shed has hosted five exhibitions including a recent children’s display and collaborative exhibition.
“I think we’ve achieved what we wanted to,” Tammey said.
The artist said the push in 2019 would be to increase community and artistic engagement.
“The goal will be to definitely promote it a bit more and have more artists involved and functions,” she said.
“It would be good to hold a function every six weeks.”
Tammey said The Art Shed could also be used for solo exhibitions – something yet to be done in the space.
“I want to get it out there that space can be used,” she said.
