Farmers were busy collecting their share of the donated fodder from the Namoi Brickworks on Monday afternoon after the hay arrived on Sunday.
One was Goolhi’s Laurie Ash who said the hay was a “godsend” as she was down to her last big bale.
Donated by the Cronulla Lions Club, the hay is being distributed by the Gunnedah Lions Club.
Member Bob Mansfield said the delivery was made up of oaten hay.
“This is the third delivery of donated feed facilitated by the Gunnedah Lions Club,” Mr Mansfield said.
“The first load and this most recent load were donated by our friends at the Cronulla Lions Club, the second load was donated through Lions Australia’s Need for Feed program.
“All of this hay comes from South Australia and should hopefully go some way to helping a few local farmers feed their stock.”
Ms Ash said said the feed would help keep her 200 head of stock going.
“Our stock is made up of cattle and sheep and we aren’t in a position to sell just yet given the age of our stock, but in terms of feed, I was down to just one bale of hay,” she said.

The Goolhi local said feed had become difficult to source around the region.
“At the moment I am rationing out what hay I have to the cattle while the sheep are getting small bales that we are putting through the mixer,” she said.
“I have had to make a couple of trips to Queensland to find some feed because it is awfully expensive around here.
“So really any help we can get is always appreciated and we want to thank the Lions Club for their support.”
Mr Mansfield said the local club would continue to try and help locals impacted by drought.
“Lions has got a lot of things in place to continue to help during this drought,” he said.
“The generosity of the Cronulla Lions Club goes to show that people from far and wide are thinking of us and want to help.
“We as a local Lions Club will continue to do what we can to get that help to where it is most needed.
“Rest assured we will continue to work on doing what we can to help our local community, after all that’s what Lions does best.”
