The group used its recent half mile runway sprint event in Gunnedah to help raise more than $3000 of drought support funds to be distributed throughout the region’s nine public schools via the Namoi Valley Partners in Learning group.
Gunnedah Public School acting principal Cathie McMaster said the donated funds would go a long way to helping local families.
“This drought is really hitting our region hard and there are a lot of tough choices by families being made across the board,” Ms McMaster said.
“As a collective of schools we are trying to raise money so we are not actually charging parents any money to do anything, so across the board we are trying to cover the cost of everything that happens at school.
“By doing that we should hopefully give them one less cost to worry about and ensure that nobody misses out on anything.”
Race Revolution member Adam Drake said the group was eager to give back to the local community.
“Being from the Central Coast and arriving in Gunnedah to see how dry it is was really tough,” Mr Drake said.
“The Gunnedah community has been so good to us we were determined to give back so we set about fundraising in the lead up to our event, rattled some tins during the event and we were able to raise $3115 that will go towards helping families.
“It was so important to us that the funds go back into the Gunnedah community so it is very pleasing to see it go to such a worthy cause.”

The funds will be a part of the Namoi Valley Partners in Learning’s ongoing fundraising efforts.
“We are very grateful for this support from Race Revolution,” Ms McMaster said.
“Things like the drought fundraiser at Gunnedah High School on Friday, out-of-uniform days and other future fundraising events will go into the pool as well.
“We will also be looking further afield with our fundraising efforts to ensure that the families we are trying to help are getting the full benefit.”
