A few options popped up but Gunnedah eventually became the new home and the Drakes have been hard at work organising the inaugural Race Revolution event – which will run this Saturday at the Gunnedah Airport – since.
“It [Gunnedah Airport] has a good start line, which is what we were looking for, and council has been absolutely amazing so it was just a natural progression,” Adam said of choosing Gunnedah for the sprint event.
In total, 104 cars have been entered for Race Revolution and Adam said everything had “gone according to plan” in the lead-up.
The event has a capacity of 140 but Adam wasn’t too fazed to see the entry list not packed out.
“It’s our first year at a new venue so we wanted to tone it down and see how quickly we can get through everyone to give the entrants as many runs as they can get,” Adam said.
Food, coffee and merchandise will be available.
Cars will be racing from 8.30am until roughly 5pm and the pits will be open to the public from 12.30pm until 1.30pm.
Speeds from competitors are expected to reach in excess of 300 kilometres per hour.
Spectators will be allowed to have a walk through the pits to check out the cars and talk to the owners.
Tickets can be bought at the gate. Costs are $15 for adults, $10 for children aged 5-16 while kids under 5 are free.
There is also a family pass – for two adults and two children under 16 – for $45.
