The Gunnedah Junior Cricket Association is seeking fresh blood to join its ranks, or potentially face a summer without junior cricket.
Current president Catherine Clarke said if a committee could not be formed at the association’s upcoming annual general meeting (AGM), junior cricket in Gunnedah would come to a close.
“Last year the committee ran with just three people,” Mrs Clarke said.
“We have already had one AGM last week and we only had four people show up, the three of us from last year and one other parent.
“We can’t run the association with only three people, in order to run it we still need to have a minimum of five people in attendance at the meeting and we need to fill about eight jobs.
“At this stage if we can’t form a committee at the next AGM on September 3, it will collapse.”
Mrs Clarke said player numbers were not an issue in Gunnedah.
“Last year I think we had about 30 enrollments in blast cricket,” she said.
“There’s also strong numbers in our three junior competitions with the under 12s level being our biggest level.
“As well as that, we also have the exciting development of new nets at Kitchener Park, they are open to the public and prove that there is a passion for cricket here.
“There is no doubt we have enough kids to warrant having a committee, we just need more parents to get involved.”

The current president said joining the committee would not be a “major time commitment”.
“It’s like the old saying goes, many hands make light work.
“If we do get a few people willing to help out with a few roles it can be as easy as just popping down to help out on game day once a month.
“Without the support of more committee members our kids will be forced to play their junior cricket in Tamworth most likely.”
