As part of a three day regional tour, which took them to Gunnedah on Monday and Narrabri on Tuesday, Sixers players Alyssa Healy and Tahlia Wilson will be visiting Hillvue Primary School, Tamworth Public and St Edwards Primary.
They will also be participating in the Sydney Sixer Farmers Fundraiser to support the ‘R U Aware, We Care’ campaign.
The club is encouraging the local community to show their support for the campaign by attending the festival for an afternoon of fun activities for the whole family at No.1 Oval from 3-6pm.
Rides, raffles and cricket coaching will be on offer and entry to the festival will be a gold coin.
The ‘R U Aware, We Care’ campaign was recently launched as a joint initiative by Radio Station 88.9 FM and Tamworth Regional Council to offer a helping hand to the farming families of NSW who are experiencing extreme drought on their land.
The fundraising festival has already received significant support from Tamworth business community, including Wingham Beef Exporters Australia and Paddock to Plate Butchers who have donated a large quantity of food to the barbecue.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to come to a regional NSW area and show the community that we are thinking of them,” Jodie Hawkins, General Manager of the Sydney Sixers, said.
“The current drought situation is hard to comprehend for us in the city so to come to the community and give back in some small way is really important for the club.”
“We hope we can raise some money to support the farmers who are really doing it tough, as well as show the community a great afternoon out.”
Tamworth mayor Col Murray added: “The support and efforts of the Sydney Sixers for the R U Aware We Care drought appeal is appreciated for farming families across our region, and the community of Tamworth look forward to coming long to support the event.”
