“The biggest trouble we always have is [getting enough] jockeys,” WJC president Les Alker said.
The five-race non-TAB meeting features the $4000 Wean Picnic Cup (1600m), with 27 acceptors in total for the meeting.
The Peter Sinclair-trained Track Flash is the top weight (69 kilograms) for the Cup.
The six-year-old bay gelding, to be ridden by Ricky Blewitt, has drawn barrier seven.
The horse has nine wins from 36 starts and more than $54,000 in prizemoney.
The Gavin Groth-trained About Time and the Geoff O’Brien-trained Rena’s Lad are among the eight nominations for the race.
Alker said the black-soil track was very firm.
He said: “Racing Australia rang me this morning [Thursday] for a track report, and I said ‘What’s the fastest one you’ve got?’ They said ‘Firm one’. And I said ‘That’s it.’”
