On Monday July 23, a mobile police station will be set up to allow locals in the areas around Mullaley and Tambar Springs to hand back their weapons without having to travel to major police stations, such as Gunnedah or Tamworth.
The mobile police station known as OX80, will be on hand to help locals hand in their weapons at the Mullaley rest stop from 9.30am until 11.30am.
Following the first stop, OX80 will make its way to Tambar Springs and set up outside of the Tambar Springs police station to further assist residents with the hand back.
Police say locals can surrender their firearms unconditionally, and with no questions asked.

The mobile police station armistice initiative is also being used as an opportunity for residents to meet one of the region’s newest police officers, Senior Constable Micheal Voyez.
Senior Constable Voyez has been stationed at Tambar Springs since arriving in the region in February this year.
The call for firearms to be handed in comes as a part of the NSW Police statewide firearm amnesty.
In the 2017 amnesty, the Oxley police district was one of the best performing areas in the state, with more than 1300 firearms handed in.
