Usual buyers were in attendance as numbers remained steady due to the region’s on going drought.
Gunnedah stock agent Guy Gallen said a lot of sellers had held off for the first market of the new finical year.
“There was a lot of good cattle right through the market,” Mr Gallen said.
“I’d say there was some cattle that had been held back for the start of the new financial year.
“There was plenty of them here and I’d say that trend will continue in the coming weeks.”

Mr Gallen said lightweight stock performed well at the sale.
“The market overall was dearer than previous weeks,” he said.
“Bulls were dearer as well going up by five to 10 cents per kilogram and cows were also up anywhere from 10 to 20 cents.
“Overall it was a strong sale, there’s some hope for heavier cattle but if they are younger and lighter there isn’t going to be too much help there.”
