This weekend will see 700 competitors from all over Australia, including Gunnedah, and an international team from Singapore descend on the region for the annual Tamworth Country Capital Cup.
The Tamworth Gymnastics club said there had been an increase of 200 participants on last year’s event.
The TGC added that it expected the two-day event to continue to grow.
And it boasted that the event was professionally run, had a high standard of competition and had plentiful awards.
Lauren Robertson, of Gunnedah Gymnastics Centre, said the calibre of gymnasts who would compete at the Cup was extremely high.
Clubs will also come from all over Sydney, as well as Wollongong, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Brisbane and from elsewhere within the north west.
“The Tamworth Gymnastics Club has turned the competition into a really big one for our rural area,” Robertson said.
“And the calibre of gymnasts coming to Tamworth is getting is better and better.”
