The Tiny Tots program, run by Luke and Ellie Ryan at the Gunnedah Golf Club, gives pre-school aged children the chance to try their hand at a range of sports – including golf, cricket, basketball and soccer – while developing basic skills.
“It’s something Ellie and I introduced at the start of the school term,” Luke said.
“It’s targeting two, three, four and five-year-olds and it’s about developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
“Every week’s a different sport, too,” Ellie said.
Luke added: “We try to do one main sport each week and then keep doing the fine motor skills because that’s something you have to keep working on.”

Ellie came up with the idea to provide kids the same opportunities both Ellie and Luke had growing up.
Ellie is a qualified tennis coach while Luke is the Gunnedah Golf Club professional. Both their journeys started as children.
“We were just lucky as kids,” Luke said.
“Ell’s dad was a tennis professional his whole life.
“She grew up on a tennis court and I was lucky with my pop and dad.
“They played golf and that’s when I got introduced to the game.
“Now to be able to give back is great.”
The program runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.
Registrations for term two of Tiny Tots will open over the next few weeks.
To register a child, contact Luke and Ellie at the pro shop at the Gunnedah Golf Club in person or on 67421751.
