Boggabri Home and Community Care (HACC) showed its appreciation for its volunteers at a recent luncheon.
The event was held during National Volunteers Week and gave HACC an opportunity to thank its volunteers were thanked for their continued outstanding support, enthusiasm and contribution to the service. The theme for this year’s volunteers week was ‘Give a little, change a lot’.
“Boggabri HAAC is a government funded not-for-profit service, but it is not the funding that maintains the service – it is the generosity of time, empathy and willingness to help that provides the care and support to Boggabri seniors,” HACC said.
“Money cannot buy what the volunteers give so freely.”
The “Thank You” cake was cut by “long-standing and dedicated, quiet achiever” Doris Donaldson.
In other news, the HACC Wednesday Social Group also celebrated Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW) Day and heard about the history and role of SES Boggabri from deputy controller Victoria Gunther.
The day’s menu reflected the orange theme with oranges, orange cake, orange jelly slice, pumpkins soup and scones.
WOW Day is held in recognition of SES volunteers who give their time to assist and protect their communities in floods, storms and other emergencies.
