GUNNEDAH has missed out on any big ticket items in the federal budget this week, but Parkes MP Mark Coulton remains confident money will flow to the region in various shapes and sizes.

The federal MP has been pushing for an upgrade to Grain Valley Road between Mullaley and Boggabri, but no funds were allocated to the project in Tuesday night’s budget.
Mr Coulton indicated $3.5 billion allocated for the Roads of Strategic Importance program could benefit the electorate.

Councils within the electorate are also set to receive a cash boost with the federal government to allow them early access to funds.
“This cash injection of more than $1.2 billion will give councils the opportunity to start work immediately on new projects and to benefit from additional interest on cash in the bank,” Mr Coulton said.
